In the world we used to know, California was the land of earthquakes and Louisiana suffered only hurricanes. But the world is changing, as evidenced by the fact the Big Easy state had an earthquake this week.

The quake hit at 9:52 a.m. near Hall Summit, Louisiana, in Red River Parish. According to the USGS, the earthquake measured at magnitude of 2.8 and a depth of 5 km. The earthquake's radius was roughly 250 km.

Did you feel it? About 17 people did, and filed reports on it. No one was injured.

"This magnitude of earthquake is classified as minor and can only be slightly felt by some people. It does not typically result in damage to buildings," The Shreveport Times reported.
