Despite calls for New Orleans residents to conserve water in the aftermath of last week’s winter storm, water pressure on the East Bank has fallen so much that the Sewerage and Water Board has issued a boil water advisory for most of the city.
According to SWB officials, the entire East Bank is under that boil advisory until further notice.
In a release, officials said that water pressure in the SWB’s system dropped below 20 pounds per square inch, necessitating the advisory. Residents on the East Bank of Orleans Parish should boil their water for a full minute before consuming.
