Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards is urging flood preparations ahead of the forecast tropical weather late tomorrow and Saturday.
Governor Edwards says there is still a lot of uncertainty with the disorganized storm system, however forecasters predict it will dump a lot of rain somewhere on the Gulf Coast.
“The expectation is this weather event will be focused on rain, not so much on the wind,” said Governor Edwards. “Although, 35 to 45 mile per hour wind – when you have saturated ground can easily uproot trees.”
FEMA administrator, Deanne Criswell warns; “We are seeing severe storms continue to grow. We are seeing them develop stronger and faster,” she said.
“Obviously, a lot depends on the exact track the storm takes and how fast it moves,” said Edwards.
Forecasters with the National Weather Service say it is possible parts of Louisiana could get up to ten inches of rain.
