In his Friday COVID-19 update, Governor John Bel Edwards says although the covid numbers appear to have plateaued, the outlook remains a critical point.
“Today we reported 1,937 new cases on 29,077 testes sadly we are reporting 41 additional deaths today, that is a total of 8,483 since the beginning of the pandemic.
Governor Edwards says 1,747 individuals acroos the state are hospitalized, a decrease of 53 from yesterday.
“216 of those patients are on ventilators which is a decrease of 17 since yesterday,” said Edwards.
He says the numbers although not good, show some signs of plateauing but says that doesn’t mean the state is doing better in the pandemic.
“Obviously we are starting to see some positive signs that we have plateaued on this most recent surge, and that is gratifying, but but we remain at a very precarious place because the percent positive remains in excess of 10 percent across the state and the number of new cases remains very high,” said Edwards.
