A group of eight people were robbed at gunpoint in the Michoud area of New Orleans East.

The mass robbery happened in a parking lot of a business in the 4600 block of Alcee Fortier Boulevard.

According to New Orleans police, two male suspects arrived at the location and exited the vehicle armed with a gun. Police say the suspects then ordered the victims, six male juveniles and two female juveniles, to the ground and took the victims’ property before fleeing the scene.

“Armed robberies beginning to show higher rate of increase relative to 2021 – at 272 YTD in 2022, we are 30% higher than the same time last year, 51% higher relative to 2020, and 21% higher relative to 2019,” says Metropolitan Crime Commission President Rafael Goyeneche speaking about the crime commission’s crime data last week.
