An 18-year-old who escaped from a halfway house in Louisiana earlier this month has been caught in San Antonio.
According United States Marshal’s Service spokesman Brian Fair, authorities arrested Lynell Reynolds Monday afternoon in San Antonio. Fair told WWL Radio that Louisiana State Police and federal marshals from Louisiana coordinated with the U. S. Marshal’s Service in San Antonio to make the arrest.
Lynelle Reynolds was 13 years old when he shot and paralyzed Darrelle Scott, and was sentenced to "juvenile life" when convicted.
Despite being sentenced to serve time in juvenile custody until the age of 21, a judge determined Reynolds was eligible for a "step-down" program that transferred him to a halfway house. According to reports, Reynolds was on the verge of being released from custody when he escaped from the Lake Charles facility on September 13.
The victim and his family opposed Reynolds' transfer to the halfway house, and said it was not until days after Reynolds' escape that they were notified he was on the loose.
Reynolds will now face charges for the escape. This time, he will be in the adult justice system.
