Fake cop arrested after trying to pull over real Jefferson Parish deputy

JPSO
WWL

A man whom Jefferson Parish sheriff's deputies say impersonated a cop and tried to pull over a real policeman is now in jail.

According to Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office Sergeant Brandon Veal, Justin Marshall was driving on I-10 near Bonnabel when he activated blue flashing lights he installed on his SUV in an attempt to pull over a pickup truck. That truck, Veal says, was driven by a legitimate lawman, identified only as a JPSO deputy chief. The deputy chief, Veal says, ignored Marshall and then turned on his own blue lights to pull over Marshall.

During the traffic stop, the deputy chief discovered that Marshall had no police commission or badge. However, Veal says investigators found a gun and a police radio in Marshall's SUV.

Veal says deputies had to physically restrain Marshall during his arrest. He's now in jail on a false personation of a police officer charge.
