As part of the Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity or RAISE Act, 20-million dollars in funding is coming to the state to make the initial purchases of land and right of way between Baton Rouge and Gonzales for the design and building of train stations.
However, Congressman Garret Graves, who represents most of the area where the train will cross, feels the money should go towards another bridge over the Mississippi instead of spending money on a train.
Something he calls less pressing than enabling east-west traffic to move more quickly through Baton Rouge.
