FEMA has dropped its proposal to create a temporary housing group site on Houma Blvd. in Metairie.
Jefferson Parish this afternoon announced the agency was unable to negotiate a lease with the owner of the lot.
Jefferson Parish President Cynthia Lee Sheng told WWL's Tommy Tucker this morning that in other parishes, FEMA has been able to secure lots in existing RV and mobile home parks, but because there are fewer of them in Jefferson, especially the eastbank of Jefferson, it had proposed the Houma Blvd. site.
