Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve won't broadcast live from New Orleans this year.

However, officials say it's NOT because of crime in the city.

According to Stephanie Turner from New Orleans and Company, the decision not to hold the holiday telecast in the Crescent City was a financial one.

"When people are in a city and they've been here for a while--we've had a great run--maybe they want to try somewhere else," Turner said to WWL's Newell Normand on Wednesday. "Maybe somebody else had a great financial package. We don't know the details of that. Just like we compete for meetings and conventions, folks compete for events all the time."

New Orleans and Company CEO Walt Leger told WWL-TV that the production company that puts on New Year's Rockin' Eve wanted a financial subsidy to continue producing the show here. Leger's organization decided against the investment, ending a five-year run in the Crescent City.
