
Firefighters battled flames and smoke on Bourbon Street Sunday.
"The New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) was dispatched to the Royal Sonesta Hotel on 300 Bourbon Street, after reports of a fire on the second floor in a storage room," spokesperson DeRonta Laugand said in a news release.
It happened around 11:00am.
"During search and rescue efforts, firefighters safely assisted an individual in a wheelchair from the fourth floor and evacuated two additional occupants from a second-floor balcony."
Laugand says the hotel was safely evacuated.
"This fire was placed under control at 11:44 a.m."
It too 21 NOFD vehicles with 52 firefighters.
"No casualties or injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is being investigated."
