A multi-alarm fire is keeping firefighters busy on the Westbank tonight.
The former clubhouse at the now-closed Brechtel Golf Course is engulfed in flames.
WWL-TV reports numerous fire engines and crews are surrounding to the burning structure more-than-likely to keep the flames or embers from expanding and setting other buildings or vegetation at the abandoned golf course from spreading.
The clubhouse is part of the 115 acre Brechtel Park Golf Course off Behrman Highway in Algiers.
The course suffered serious damage to its irrigation system from Hurricane Katrina, then closed for good in 2011.
Since then there have been many plans to bring back the course, but nothing has come of it.
Vandals have wrecked the clubhouse and at one time littered the grounds with abandoned gold clubs, bags and golf shoes.
NOFD has been on scene since about 7:15.
No injuries or cause of the blaze has been reported.
