Investigators are looking for clues after flames tore through a home in Bayou St. John Saturday night.
"The residents stated that they were upstairs preparing to eat, they heard a boom and went downstairs to investigate the noise, noticed the fire, and evacuated," Operator Gregory Davis said in a news release.
They got the call just before 9:00pm.
"On Saturday, July 6, 2024, at 8:57 pm, the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) responded to a 911 call reporting a residential fire at 607 N. Salcedo Street."
Davis says they arrived to find a garage below an apartment heavily involved in flames spreading to the apartment above and extending to the home next door.
"The family of three that resided in the home were outside when the fire companies arrived. Firefighters were able to make an aggressive attack, contained the fire mostly to the garage area and were able to bring this fire under control at 9:41 pm."
The cause of the "boom" and the blaze is under investigation.
There were no injuries reported.
