Crews battled a blaze in a Slidell home Monday.
"We responded to a residential structure fire," St. Tammany Fire Protection District #1 posted.
The house was off of Hollow Rock Court.
It "originated from a fireplace fire that spread outside the chimney."
Officials say that the homeowner had been using the fireplace to keep warm and was sleeping next to it.
"When he woke up, he discovered that the fire had spread to the attic above him. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, especially since there were no smoke detectors in the home."
