Five people shot in 4 separate shootings across New Orleans

A violent night in New Orleans leaves five people shot in four separate shootings across the city.

New Orleans police reported the first shooting at 10:30 p.m. in the 2400 block of General Ogden Street in the Hollygrove neighborhood. An initial police report says the yet to be identified, gunshot victim, was taken to the hospital by EMS.


Little over a half hour later, NOPD report they are working another shooting. This time in the 5500 block of Crowder Boulevard in New Orleans East. Two men were shot in this incident according to police. They say one victim was taken to the hospital by EMS. The second gunshot victim arrived to the hospital by a private vehicle.

Then, at 12:30 a.m. early Monday morning, another shooting happened. This time in the 2200 block of North Derbigny Street. Police say the adult male victim was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle.

The NOPD is also investigating a shooting that happened around 5:30 a.m. Monday morning at the intersection of Morrison Road and New Castle Street. One male was shot in this incident according to police. The victim was also taken to the hospital by a private vehicle.

The condition of the gunshot victims in these shootings is not known at this time. The investigation is ongoing.

The sudden surge in violence comes at a time the New Orleans Police Chief Shaun Ferguson reported he had to make cuts to officer’s overtime and cuts to staffing because of citywide furloughs to all emergency services.
