New Orleans police are searching for two cars stolen late Saturday night and early Sunday morning in two separate carjackings.
The first carjacking happened around 11 p.m. Saturday on Shaw Avenue near Morrison Road in New Orleans East.
According to an NOPD spokesperson, the victim was leaving her home when a man wearing a camouflage ski mask pulled a silver pistol on her. The suspect, whom police believe may be a juvenile, stole the woman’s car keys, phone, and purse before driving off in the victim’s SUV.
That SUV is a 2016 Range Rover Evoque with Louisiana license plate number 708 DYM.
The second carjacking happened around 3:20 a.m. Sunday on Elysian Fields near Pelopidas Street in Gentilly.
According to the NOPD’s major offense log, a man and a woman were sitting in a parked car when three men got out of a Jeep and walked up to their car. One of those men pulled a gun and ordered the victims out of the vehicle.
The suspects then drove away in the woman’s grey 2014 Dodge Charger while a fourth suspect drove away in the Jeep. The suspects headed towards Lake Pontchartrain before the victims lost sight of them.
