St. Tammany Parish is under a flood advisory until 5 p.m. Thursday.
According to the National Weather Service, parts of the parish received between a half-inch and two inches of rain early in the afternoon and will receive another two inches of rain before the advisory expires. the NWS's radar indicates the heaviest rains are situated in an around the Pearl River, Bush, and Sun areas.
NWS officials urge residents who encounter flooded areas not to wade or drive into them.
