New Orleans District Attorney Jason Williams today announced a new partnership that he says will help in the battle against crime in the city.
The D.A. is bringing back a veteran cop to work with prosecutors and the community.
"I wore my Christmas tie today," Williams told reporters. "Because I feel like this is a Christmas present."
At a news conference today, the D.A. reintroduced former NOPD Chief Michael Harrison.

"It is hard to find trained individuals with experience with our toughest cases and our toughest situations," Williams said.
Harrison joins Williams office as a law enforcement affairs liaison and community engagement advisor.
"We can have an impact on crime," Harrison insisted. "I am truly honored to be a part of the crime fight here in New Orleans."
The former New Orleans Superintendent of Police explained that he and his team can help identify problems and solutions in the battle against criminals in the city.
"How can we look at both people and places... where the environmental design sort of leads to crime?"
Harrison said by understanding and anticipating what is happening across the city, they can not only react to crime... but get a step ahead of it and institute measures to deter it.
When Harrison left New Orleans in 2019, crime was at historically low levels. It skyrocketed in the following years.
