Former Saints Defensive End, Glenn Foster has died shortly after police in Alabama took him into custody.

As The Times-Picayune | New Orleans Advocate reports, the Pickens County, Alabama, Medical Examiner, and Coroner’s Office confirmed to news outlets that Foster, 31, died Monday. The coroner’s office could not comment on Foster’s cause of death or the location where he died.

Authorities placed Foster in the Pickens County jail the day before he died.

According to the report, Foster was involved in a high-speed chase with police that ended in a crash, then a jail fight with another inmate that drew in two jail guards, and finally, an attempt to render medical aid.

The news outlet reports that the county sheriff’s office would not comment and referred questions to the Alabama State Bureau of Investigation, which also has not yet commented on Foster’s death.

Word of his death spread quickly on social media after Illinois Representative Kam Buckner tweeted Foster’s passing.
