Louisiana State Police say a crash claimed four lives early Christmas morning in St. James Parish.
"At approximately 3:45 a.m. on December 25, 2025, Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a two-vehicle crash on LA 641, south of Interstate 10," Trooper Shelby Mayfield said in a news release.
The crash resulted in the deaths of 35-year-old Tyreione Parker, 29-year-old Kedrick Robertson, and 35-year-old Gevin Harvey; all of Baton Rouge. Mayfield said that 22-year-old Christina Gillam of Shreveport also died.
"The preliminary investigation revealed that Parker was driving a 2008 Honda Accord north on LA 641. At the same time, a 2019 GMC Sierra was traveling south on LA 641. For reasons still under investigation, Parker lost control of the Honda, began to rotate, entered the southbound lane, and struck the GMC."
All four of the dead were not wearing seatbelts.
A 13-year-old rear-seat passenger was was transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries. Mayfield says the child was "improperly restrained."
"The driver of the GMC was properly restrained, sustained moderate injuries, and was transported to a local hospital."
Toxicology tests are pending to determine if impairment was a factor.
