Four people shot dead in less than 12 hours in New Orleans

The violence continues in New Orleans with four people shot dead in less than 12 hours says the New Orleans Police Department.

It started Thursday evening when two people were shot dead in the 1900 block of O’Reilly Street in the 7th Ward. Police released few details but say one victim was found dead on the scene the other was taken to the hospital where they later died.

Then around 7:48 p.m. officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 4900 block of Press Drive.

When they arrived, they discovered a male victim suffering from an undetermined number of gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he later died.

Later, around 3:24 a.m. Friday morning, Sixth District officers responded to a call reporting shots fired in the 2800 block of South Roman Street.

When officers arrived they discovered an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim died at the scene.

According to crime data from the Metropolitan Crime Commission, the violent crime trend isn’t stopping.

“Since our last update, we’ve surpassed the 2019 homicide total – we have had at least 123 homicides in 2022 as of June 5th,” says MCC President Rafael Goyeneche in a weekly crime data update.
