New Orleans Police say bullets were flying overnight in the French Quarter.
"The NOPD is investigating a shooting at the intersection of North Peters and Bienville streets," Senior Public Information Officer Aaron Looney said in an email. "Initial information shows a male gunshot wound victim transported via private conveyance to a local hospital."
He says NOPD was first notified of the shooting just before 1:00am.
It comes amid surging violent crime in New Orleans as NOPD steadily shrinks to historically low levels.
