The plywood over the windows at the Spotted Cat are coming down and the favorite Frenchman Street venue for Jazz is back in business starting Friday.

Friday’s indoor concerts make the first time in more than a year the Spotted Cat has hosted a show.

The local New Orleans Cottonmouth Kings jazz band will lead off the return to business for the venue with a 6pm show.

According to the Times-Picayune/New Orleans Advocate, a message posted on the club’s website read:

“Our staff, along with our family of musicians, have missed entertaining our many fans, both locally and around the world,” the note continued.  “With local restrictions having been lifted (sort of), it is time for us to make our return. If this past year has taught us anything, it's that all things change and people have a way of coming together to adapt with new circumstances. The Cat is no different… ...We are adapting to the times with how we run our establishment.”

To deal with current restriction numbers, tickets for show are limited to groups of two.

Social distancing is in place, so tables are six feet apart.

In keeping with those restrictions in place, the venue will close promptly at 11pm.

Just last week, Tipitina’s and the Howling Wolf re-opened their venues as restrictions were lifted.
