COVID-19 claims another popular New Orleans food festival, this time it is the National Fried Chicken Festival.
Festivals organizers decided to cancel out of growing concerns over the spreading Delta Variant.
“To ensure the safety of our guests, staff, and surrounding community, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the 5th Annual National Fried Chicken Festival,” event organizers said in a statement.
“We look forward to returning with an extraordinary experience in the fall of 2022. In the meantime, we ask everyone to continue to do their part and comply with all COVID-19 health and safety guidelines so we can come back together again to celebrate America's favorite dish.”
The 5th annual festival was scheduled for October 23 and 24. Organizers have not announced when it will be rescheduled in 2022.
