Friends of Julia Dardar, the woman cops say Benjamin Beale killed, and people who have had run-ins with Beale, gathered at New Orleans City Hall Tuesday to demand Beale be held without bail.
Micah Dardar said he believed Beale would end up harming his estranged wife.
"I've been trying to report this man to different law enforcement agencies and trying to get my wife some psychiatric help for being manipulated by him," said Dardar. "This is beyond bizarre that someone could do something of the magnitude that he did and be possibly released back onto the streets."
Dardar and others gathered at city hall and demanded no bail for Benjamin Beale, who also goes by the name Kelley Kirkpatrick, saying they believe Beale will harm other women if he's allowed out of jail while awaiting trial.
A judge set bond for Beale at $1.4 million.
