Things are about to turn much colder.
"After a record high of 85 degrees on Saturday, things take a sharp turn on Sunday," WWL TV Meteorologist Alexa Trischler forecasts. "A strong arctic front is about to sweep across the country and bring a taste of winter to us Monday and Tuesday."
She says today is the transition day.
"The day starts comfortable and sunny as temperatures rise into the low 70s early in the afternoon. Temperatures will tumble through the rest of the day. By Sunday evening it’ll feel chilly and blustery," Trischler explained.
Monday and Tuesday will bring even colder air.
"On Monday morning the main focus will be gusty winds making it feel especially frigid - wind chills will be in the 30s, and spots farther north could get wind chills in the 20s. Even in the afternoon, temperatures will only reach the 50s with that steady north breeze."
Tuesday morning will be the coldest of the stretch.
"A freeze looks likely north of the lake across the Northshore and South Mississippi. South of the lake, areas outside the city should expect frost too in the River and Bayou Parishes."
