The U.S./Iran conflict gets a lot of the blame, and AAA's Don Redman says we should not forget about the now four-years-and-counting war between Russia and Ukraine.
"As of late, Ukraine has been sending drones unabated into Russia, and they're destabilizing the fuel process," said Redman, "They're hitting refineries, they're hitting oil storage tanks."
Redman says while prices normally drop after Labor Day, with two violent conflicts simultaneously disrupting the industry in two parts of the globe, it's really hard to tell how much the seasonal drop in demand will affect prices.
"I don't have much reason to think that crude is suddenly going to nose dive below $80 a barrel," said Redman. "I think even though you have slower demand for gasoline, and even though you start making the transition for a winter blend gasoline, which is cheaper to refine, I don't think we're going to be talking about significant savings as we get into the fall."
AAA says the average for regular today and a month ago is $3.65 per gallon for regular.
