Gas prices continue to fall and it could hit a milestone we haven't seen in years.

AAA says the nationwide average could hit three dollars a gallon -- it hasn't been that low in four years.

AAA fuel price analyst Don Redman say between a sleepy hurricane season, an Israel-Hamas conflict that didn't erupt into a wider Middle East war, and news that President Trump will meet with the president of Russia to talk Ukraine, it's been good for drivers.

"Everything's looking good so far (in the tropics) and peace is breaking out everywhere and certainly if those talks prove to be fruitful between the president of Russia and the U.S. President Trump, then I think that you could see a precipitous fall in the price of energy," said Redman. "I think we're going to be in for a very good year as we head into Thanksgiving into Christmas in terms of fuel prices."

Gas in New Orleans today costs and average of $2.66 a gallon.
