A 15-year-old girl is hospitalized after a relative says he accidentally shot her in a home in Goodbee.
"Detectives with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Major Crime Unit are investigating," Lieutenant Suzanne Carboni said in an email.
EMS called a helicopter to fly the teen girl to the hospital, but officials did not share her condition.
It happened at a house on Eagle Landing Drive.
"Shortly after 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, STPSO deputies were dispatched... in reference to a 15-year-old female who had been shot while sitting in the living room of the home," Carboni detailed.
She says the relative told investigators the gun accidentally fired, the bullet travelled through a wall, and it struck the girl.
"The incident is still under investigation."
