Economic development firm GNO, Inc. says there’s big things going on at the NASA-Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans East.
“The White House has chosen New Orleans and NASA-Michoud as one of the epicenters for this effort,” Says GNO, Inc.’s President and CEO Michael Hecht. “But specifically recognizing that we not only need the technology, we need the people to drive it and implement that technology.”
Hecht explains a new partnership is coming together to find the scientists and engineers of tomorrow for Michoud to continue leading the way to stars.
“We have the Greater New Orleans Regional Advance Manufacturing Partnership [GNO RAMP], which is going to be about working with our community colleges and local training providers to teach local residents to become the next generation of rocket scientists.”
Hecht emphasizes the importance of making New Orleans the training ground to feed talent and brainpower to Michoud into the future:
“We need literal rocket scientists,” Hecht says. “We not only need the technology we need the people to drive and implement that technology. We had an event at Michoud to announce an advanced manufacturing partnership with us locally and the U.S.
Government and NASA.
