Speaking with WWL’s Newell Normand, Michael Hecht talked about the creation of an energy technology incubator aimed at providing opportunities to entrepreneurs.

Hecht says GNO is working with Opportunity Hub of Atlanta, which is putting on bootcamps for interested people and giving them a place to pitch their concepts.

“OHUB is a fantastic group that we work with out of Atlanta.  They focus particularly on giving economic opportunities to those who have been particularly involved.”

Hecht goes on to explain what this new incubator will be and how it will work.

“They are starting a new energy technology incubator here in New Orleans and this is for those who want to get into the new energy space and with a particular emphasis on minority entrepreneurs, but it’s really for everybody.”

OHUB will hold a bootcamp for people looking to participate and help them get their ideas off the ground.

“OHUB is going to be hosting up to 100 new energy founders for all stages for its first startup bootcamp,” Hecht explains.

Hecht says there is a substantial prize award for the best concept.

“The prize that somebody’s going to win is going to be $500,000 getting into the funding accelerator of OHUB,” Hecht says.  “So, it’s another piece of the puzzle.”
