It pays to have solid help from Cedric Richmond and an endorsement from Mayor LaToya Cantrell can’t hurt.
These important endorsements helped criminal defense lawyer Marcus DeLarge win the Section K seat in Criminal District Court.
Not to say it wasn’t a tight race, just 1250 votes separated DeLarge and Stephanie Bridges, who was appointed to the seat vacated by Arthur Hunter, who resigned to run District Attorney.
Though Bridges initially finished in the lead in the general election, an additional endorsement from third place finisher Gary Wainwright just three days from the election certainly came in handy.
On the bench DeLarge promises to a different kind of judicator.
DeLarge says he will pay attention to defendants with mental health issues and offer special services for them.
He says he will look to move away from traditional fees and fines when it comes to sentencing and offer more community services to defendants.
