The first impressions of the changes are a mixed bag amongst them.
Republican Senator Pat Connick says he's open to the reforms. "I am ready to listen and ready to make some tough votes."
While State Representative Mandie Landry, a Democrat, wasn't so impressed. "It feels like we are playing tax whack-a-mole."
Both Connick and Landry spoke with WWL's Tommy Tucker and agree on one thing. They weren't so thrilled about going back into session in November. Although Connick said he will go if it means making the State of Louisiana more attractive.
Landry (D) says that time is needed as she and fellow lawmakers are not tax professionals and the packet they received from the Governor's Office was pages long.
"I haven't received anything like that since serving. It's usually electronic."
If Governor Landry does call a special session, it will take place in November after the presidential election.
