Today, weather forecasters from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration will tell us what they expect for hurricane season 2025.

Predictions for the season so far call for a more active than average hurricane season, but not as active as last year's.

Colorado State University's climate research team predicts 17 named storms this year.

Last year, NOAA predicted 17 to 25 tropical storms or hurricanes. 2024 finished with 19 of them.

NOAA will release its 2025 Atlantic hurricane season forecast at 10 a.m., from the Jefferson Parish Emergency Operations Center in Gretna.

The administration is issuing its season prediction from the New Orleans area ahead of the 20th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina flooding the city in August 2005.
