The traditions that make Mardi Gras are kept alive through creative ways.
Traditionally, on this day Rex: King of Carnival would be sitting atop his royal float as he is saluted with a toast by the New Orleans mayor and other city leaders in front of Gallier Hall.
However, this year, like so many other traditions, the toast is done a bit differently.
In a prerecorded video posted to social media, New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell along with the Captain of the Krewe of House Floats, Arthur Hardy and other Carnival leaders saluted King Rex with a toast.
