A Hammond man is dead after crashing his pickup truck into an 18-wheeler and a tree.
That crash happened around 6:15 a.m. Tuesday on Interstate 12 East near the Lacombe/St. Tammany exit.
According to state troopers, Alton Henry rear-ended the 18-wheeler. The impact of the initial crash sent Henry's truck off the road an into a tree. Henry, 68, died at the scene. Troopers say Henry was not wearing a seat belt.
The crash remains under investigation.
