Cops in Hammond say one child is dead and another is locked up.
"The Hammond Police Department responded to the 1200 block of Willow Street for a shooting that took place inside a residence," according to a social media post. "During the course of the investigation, it was determined a 14-year-old accidentally shot a 13-year-old who succumbed to injuries."
Investigators took the teen into custody Saturday, but didn't release information about the incident until today.
"The 14-year-old was placed into the Florida Parishes Juvenile Detention Center for negligent homicide. The investigation is ongoing."
Because the suspect and victim are juveniles, police have released very limited information.
