A pastor from Harvey is arrested for allegedly raping and inappropriately touching a girl over a span of four years.
As Nola.com reports, The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office charged 58-year-old Dolhman Brown with first-degree rape and sexual battery.
According to Jefferson Parish Assistant District Attorney, Aimee St. Cyr, the victim and family know Brown and says the abuse started five years ago when the girl was nine years old the news outlet reports.
Authorities say the alleged abuse started with Brown touching the girl inappropriately on the outside of her clothes but then moved to other direct touching.
They say he allegedly raped the girl and even paid her $100 to perform oral sex on him.
The abuse was reported to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office in June when the girl revealed the abuse to a doctor who notified authorities.
At Brown’s court hearing Wednesday, his attorney told the court Brown had been a pastor at the First Emmanuel Baptist Church in Gretna for 17 years.
The magistrate judge set Brown’s bond at $350,000 and ordered him to wear a GPS monitor when he is released on bond.
