Another time change is behind us, and reminds us all of the value of a good night's sleep.
Falling back is preferable to springing forward, from a sleep health point of view. But the main thing, says Dr. Angela McLean with the LSU Health Sciences Center, is making sure you get back on your routine as soon as you can, whether springing forward or falling back.
"The body needs to rest. It's absolutely essential," she told WWL's Tommy Tucker. "Try to make sure you exercise early, back off on the caffeine late in the evening, try to get yourself back into your regular cycle."
And she says people with pets or small children may not be able to count on that extra hour -- since they don't know how to tell time.
"You're thinking, 'I've got that extra hour of sleep,' they still think they're on the daylight saving time so they're still going to be getting you up early," she said.
