New Orleans fire fighters battled a two alarm blaze last night.

"On Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at 9:50 p.m., the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) was dispatched to a reported residential fire in the 1500 block of N. Broad St.," Captain Edwin Holmes said in a news release.

He says the first unit arrived four minutes later.

"The first NOFD Fire Operations unit arrived on the scene at 9:54 p.m., finding a single-family, wood-framed dwelling, at 1561 N. Broad St., with flames already engulfing the entire rear of the dwelling."

Homes says everyone was already safely out of the house and on just feet away.

"The original fire building experienced severe damage to its rear, eventually resulting in the collapse of that section of the home. Fortunately, firefighters were able to limit the damage to the exposure (only a few feet away) to moderate damage to its right and rear exterior walls."

The blaze was under control at 10:20pm.

"Both properties are currently uninhabitable."

There were no injuries, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

"The Red Cross has been called to the scene to assist these residents with their immediate housing needs."
