A Houma man accused of beating two people with a hammer is a jail after authorities say neighbors heard the attack and stopped the suspect, and held him at gunpoint.
Brian Guillotte is facing attempted first-degree murder and home invasion charges. He remains in the Terrebonne Parish Jail without bond.
According to Sheriff Tim Soignet, Guillotte, 49, burst into a home near Schriever and attacked an elderly man and another person who lived there. Neighbors heard the commotion and ran over to see what the problem was. Soignet says the neighbors stopped Guillotte, called authorities, and held Guillotte at gunpoint until authorities arrived.
Both victims were airlifted to out-of-town hospitals. The elderly man is in serious condition but is stable. The second victim sustained serious injuries but has since been released from the hospital.
