Hurricane season not over yet

The National Hurricane Center says tropical development is likely over the next week in the Caribbean.

"A broad area of low pressure is likely to develop over the southwestern Caribbean Sea during the next day or so.  Gradual
development is possible thereafter," the NHC advised.  "A tropical depression is likely to form late this weekend or early next week."

WWL TV Meteorologist Payton Malone says forecasting models are in decent agreement with something trying to form.

"No threat to us, especially if the upper pattern changes by next week. Remember, the Gulf in November isn't the Gulf in August. Water temps are down, there's more dry air, and stronger wind shear."

He says, however, the system could produce some rain somewhere along the Gulf Coast.
