New Orleans Police homicide detectives are investigating a fatal shooting at I-10 and Crowder Boulevard in New Orleans East.
Police say shortly after 5:30 p.m. Monday evening, officers were sent to investigate a call of two men shot in that location.
According to NOPD spokesperson Reese Harper, two men riding in a car were shot while they were near the intersection of the I-10 Service Road and Bundy Road. After they were shot, their car crashed through a fence and entered the interstate, where their car then collided with another.
The two men who had been shot died of their wounds. Police identified one as a 21-year-old. Police do not know the identity of the other victim.
Three people inside the other car involved in the crash suffered critical injuries and were taken to the hospital. Harper adds that one of the women also suffered a gunshot wound to the head during the incident. Police are investigating who shot her.
Police closed I-10 heading toward the High-Rise from Read to Crowder while they investigated. The interstate has since been reopened.
