The polls are open and voting is taking place in Louisiana.

There are three amendments to consider on the ballot, the race for Public Service Commission and local elections with bills, ordinances and local area candidates.


The three amendments to the state constitution cover a range of statewide issues.

Amendment one asks if people who are not citizens of the United States be denied voting rights in the state.

Amendment two asks if appointed members of the State Civil Service Commission should be subject to vetting and confirmation by the state senate.

Amendment three wants to know if appointed members to the State Police Commission should be subject to vetting and confirmation by the state senate.

As a reminder, you must provide valid identification before you are allowed to vote.

This includes a Driver’s license, Louisiana Special ID, LA Wallet digital driver’s license, or a military ID card that includes a name and photograph.
