New Orleans Police today announced new plans to beef up enforcement of traffic laws in targeted areas.
In the wake of a child severely injured in a crash, cops are out to try and prevent similar tragedies.
The goal is to slow down traffic and prevent accidents.
It follows a driver who was cited for allegedly failing to stop for a school bus with stop signs activated in the 3400 block of DeSaix Street.
Investigators says that the motorist went around the bus and hit the 14-year-old girl... seriously injuring her.
Now the department has launched a new effort in school zones and other problem areas.
