It began began back in July at an interesting 20 million dollars, but the Wednesday night Powerball jackpot is a mind-blowing amount.
The estimated jackpot is $835 million, with the cash option just over $390 million.
Kimberly Chopin with the Louisiana Lottery Corporation says the last jackpot win was back in July, and the Powerball has been growing from its start at $20 million since then.
Picking the correct six numbers is a long shot. One in 293 million to be mathematical about it.
Even if you don't win, the state lottery is always winning.
Chopin says a third of the revenue from all lottery sales, "gets transferred to the state for the Minimum Foundation Program that funds public education in Louisiana."
