Organizers today announced the canceled Irish Channel St. Patrick’s Day Parade will roll on Saturday, March 29th.
"After a long and complex approval process, the Irish Channel St. Patrick’s Day Parade is officially set to roll," Irish Channel St. Patrick's Day Club Public Information Officer Jeff Delatte said in a news release.
He noted that it took extraordinary coordination to get the parade approved to roll on Election Day.
"The ability to move forward with this new date would not have been possible without the tireless efforts and cooperation of city leaders, state officials, and local organizations who worked together to secure the necessary permissions and logistics. The Irish Channel St. Patrick’s Day Club extends its deepest gratitude."
They had to make sure the parade could proceed without interfering with any poling places or election access.
“This has been one of the more challenging approvals we’ve ever faced in the history of the parade,” said Dick Burke, President of the Irish Channel St. Patrick’s Day Club. “The fact that we were able to make this happen is a testament to the commitment of our city, our leaders, and our community to preserving this rich tradition.”
The parade was canceled last weekend due to severe weather.
