King cakes come in many shapes, sizes, flavors, and colors. They can also spark some of the most rabid debates this time of year.

There’s no shortage of spots to grab a king cake, but everybody’s got their opinion on who does it best. I'll put this question to you bluntly: Do some opinions matter more than others?

Ian McNulty, food critic at the Times-Picayune gave his two cents on my show Friday. He has a theory that non-traditional king cakes capture the spirit of Mardi Gras perhaps even better than the originals.
