Are the crime waves plaguing big cities truly as bad as conservatives make them out to be? One Washington Post writer thinks the GOP’s talking points on crime are really just “ancestral guilt” over the theft of Native American lands by European settlers.
Newell Normand tackled this point of view on his show Monday.
“The article was based on another CVS closing its doors… in Washington, D.C.,” he explained.
“I would suspect that if you went to almost every country in the world today, you’re going to hear about similar historical instances where one group of individuals stole land from another group of individuals.
Isn’t that how the conquest of so many different countries and so many different people operated?”
“She goes onto express the different aspect that go into shoplifting,” Normand said, adding that the reporter blamed the conservative culture war for being the main driver behind discussing crime statistics.
