Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger is getting no satisfaction from Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry and his policies impacting LGTBQ+ people and other minorities.
After performing "Satisfaction" during his band's two-hour performance at Jazz Fest on Thursday, Jagger took the opportunity to launch a zinger at Landry while a crowd of thousands watched and listened.
"We're a welcoming crowd, aren't we?" Jagger asked the cheering throng. "I hope Mr. Landry is enjoying the show. He's real inclusive you know. He's trying to take us back to the Stone Age."
Landry clapped back on Twitter.
"You can’t always get what you want," Landry wrote. "The only person who might remember the Stone Age is Mick Jagger. "Love you buddy, you're always welcome in Louisiana. #LoveMyCountryMusic"
During his term as attorney general and during his four months in office as governor, Landry has pushed bills that target members of the LGBTQ+ community, including bills that bar teachers from discussing gender identity and sexual orientation in schools and bills requiring teachers to use the birth names and pronouns of students who identify as transgender.
Landry also refused federal funding for summer feeding programs for children, a move critics said would disproportionally impact low-income residents in the state. Landry recently backtracked after being pressured by lawmakers and will now seek that federal funding.
Despite his beef with the governor, Jagger managed to have a fun time at the festival. He posted about it Friday on X.
"So happy we finally got to play for you NOLA @jazzfest! Special thanks to Dwayne Dopsie and Queen of New Orleans, Irma Thomas for joining us on stage!" said the rock icon.
